How should I watch Star Trek TNG and DS9?

I notice that DS9 1st season was aired in 1993 and TNG was somewhere in their 6th and 7th season. Should I finish TNG first and then watch DS9 or should I watch them simultaneously? I really like Star Trek i don't want to miss anything :)
